IMMORTALS EXCERPT

Eirik waved from the doorway when class ended. I collected the folder of homework I’d missed and was headed toward the door when Lavania called my name. I pretended not to hear her.

“What does she want?” Eirik asked.

“I don’t know.”

“I came by after your first period, but you two were busy talking in the back.”

He sounded annoyed. I shrugged. “She invited me to their place for a neighborly get-together.”

Eirik frowned. “Are you going?”

“Nope. Don’t have the time. Every teacher is giving me a folder or packet of missed assignments and reading material. I’m going to be too busy playing catch up to have a social life. Is she always so pushy?”

“And she does it with a smile, which is very annoying.”

I took his arm and pretended not to notice the other students treating me like I was a freak show. “You know you don’t have to escort me to my classes.”

“I don’t mind.” He glared at a group of students as we walked past them. “Idiots. Cora said they’re being total douches.”

I bumped him with my shoulder. “So you decided to be my guardian angel?”

“Part-time guardian angel. Cora will take over after third period.”

I laughed, but was touched. My friends rocked. “You two are crazy.”

“Has anyone said anything to you yet?”

“No. They just gawk. Nothing I can’t handle. They’ll lose interest in a day or two.”

“I hope so, or I’m going to break someone’s nose. If anyone does or says anything, tell me.” From his expression, he would defend me, which was big. Eirik was the most non-confrontational guy I knew. He had a temper, but tended to withdraw before he snapped and threw things around. I’d seen him vent countless times. It wasn’t a pretty sight.

“That’s nice, but I can take care of myself. Besides, I don’t want you going against your pacifist beliefs.”

“Whoever said I was a pacifist is an idiot,” he retorted.

“That would be… you.” I eased my arm from his hand. “See you at lunch.”

He reached down to kiss me. I wasn’t sure whether he meant to kiss me on the lips or not, but I turned my head and gave him my cheek just as Torin appeared at the end of the hallway. He stared at us curiously. He’d always hated it when Eirik and I kissed. Would a kiss jog his memories? Even as the thought crossed my head, I knew I couldn’t do it. I was done using my friend as a crutch. Besides, kissing Eirik would mess up things between him and Cora.

“Go, I’ll be okay.” I nudged him and hurried toward my next class.

IMMORTALS BOOK TRAILER

REVIEW:
May contain some spoilers for book one Runes

WHY I WANTED TO READ IMMORTALS:  I was totally captivated by Ednah Walters first book RUNES, and could not wait to find out what happened next after the huge twist ending. I'm happy to say Immortals did not disappoint me, it was amazing, There was plenty of actions, mystery, and romance. Ednah also brought in some great new characters to the story and more fascinating mythology to the background of the story.

SETTING AND SUMMARY: Immortals picks up right where the first book Runes left off. Torin's memories have been erased by the Norns in punishment for Raine disobeying them. Their complete relationship-gone. From their first awkward but sizzling meeting to the end when their feelings for each other are evident. But Raine has a plan to bring back Torin's memories. Along the way Raine will have to battle jealousy and heartbreak as she tries to win Torin back. Besides trouble with the Norns, and her training to become a Valkyrie, someone or something is threatening her best friend Eirik's safety. Raine must face an unknown danger in order to protect him. What follows is an amazing story filled with tons of action, romance, some great Norse mythology, and several interwoven mysteries to be solved.

CHARACTERS: At the beginning of the story Raine's character is pretty heartbroken and frustrated that Torin has lost his memories  of her. Things quickly fire up between them, but Raine has many other obstacles to face besides Torin's lost memories. Rain's character goes through some great changes and a lot of personal growth in Immortals. Her character becomes tough, and a kick-ass heroine.

Torin's character is the same loveable, cocky, bad boy as he was in Runes. This time around he really gives Raine a hard time with the loss of his memories of her. There's still a pull and connection to her, and it was great watching Torin try and fight it. You're dying for him to get his memories back because he's such a tease towards Raine!

Eirik. Wow, so much happens to Eirik in Immortals, and plays such a big part in this and possibly other future stories. He has some pretty major changes to his character as well, and his life-long friendship with Raine becomes threatened by a dangerous outside force. I really enjoyed Eirik's character in the story, and can't wait to learn what happens next to him!

WHAT I LIKED: I really enjoyed all the amazing Norse mythology put into Immortals! It added so much depth and interest to the story.

WHAT I WORRIED ABOUT: At first I was worried Raine would spend too much time trying to get Torin back, but have not fear, soon there was so much action going on that Raine and Torin's relationship became really just a small aspect of the amazing story.

SWOON LEVEL: Crush.

THE ROMANCE:
This couple is on fire. There's plenty of chemistry between these two and some great romance.

FAMOUS QUOTE: "You don’t want to play games with me, Freckles. I always win..." Just your typical Torin! :)

MY RATING: 4.5 STARS. I really liked it!
