There is no one left for Mila to trust. Except for a boy she barely knows.

But Hunter has no idea who—and what—Mila really is. She can’t bear to reveal her secret, even though he’s unwittingly joined her search for Richard Grady, a man who may know more details of Mila’s complicated past.

Yet the road to the truth is more dangerous than ever. With General Holland and the Vita Obscura scouring the earth for her whereabouts, Mila must rely on her newfound android abilities to protect herself and Hunter from imminent harm. Still, embracing her identity as a machine leads her to question the state of her humanity—as well as Hunter’s real motives.

Perfect for fans of I Am Number Four and Divergent, this action-packed and heart-wrenching second installment of MILA 2.0 will leave readers breathlessly awaiting the series conclusion.

Renegade is the second book in the MILA 2.0 series by Debra Driza featuring a young heroine, Mila, an android who is wants nothing more than to be just an average teen, human girl. Instead, she is on the run from those who want to use her for her android abilities. Action-adventure, truths and betrayals, and romance once again fill the pages in this entertaining second installment.

Mila was such a great debut read for me and now that the series is complete, I knew I wanted to make some time to revisit this series. I found myself easily back into Mila's world and Driza's writing. Mila is on the run from General Holland and the V.O. and with her is her one true love, Hunter - the boy she wants to protect more than anything and the one she has to hide her identity from.

Mila 2.0 Renegade still gave me that exciting blend of action and danger mixed with romantic and heartfelt moments to savor. I'm not sure which I like more the action sequences or the romantic and swoony moments between Hunter & Mila.

In this installment, we see much more page time with Hunter (yay!) and poor Mila is constantly struggling whether/how to tell Hunter about her being an android. Then there are twists along the way that seriously change the dynamics of those around Mila. Readers will discover more about the V.O. and few other questions are answered as well.

What keeps me coming back to this series, when all is said and done, is the very voice of Mila and her struggle with wanting to be just a normal, human girl. Each book seems to take her closer to it, yet obstacles are thrown at her, taking her back a step again. An epic cliffhanger ensures that I'll be picking up the final volume and I'm curious just what is going to happen to our android heroine with the very human heart!
