Attacked by his enemy in the elf kingdom, the last thing Prince Loren expects when he comes around is a beautiful angel watching over him and medical technology of the mortal realm. Hazy from his injuries, all he can focus on is the pulse ticking in her throat and the sweet allure of her blood.

One single bite reveals she is his eternal mate, triggering a bond between them that will leave him weakened until it is complete… or broken, and pulling Olivia into the crossfire of his ancient feud.

To protect his people and his mate from the machinations of a madman, Loren must risk everything by working with Olivia at Archangel to find a way to break the bond blossoming between them.

But will Loren be strong enough to place duty before desire and give up the one thing he has waited millennia for and craves above all others—his eternal mate? And will Olivia be able to resist the incredible heat that burns between them and the temptation of her dark prince’s kiss?

Olivia thinks it's her lucky night when a dangerously handsome unconscious fae ends up on her inspection table. He's her chance to redeem herself with her employer, the demon-hunting organization, Archangel. But when the tall, dark and deadly immortal warrior awakes, she gets much more than she bargained for ...

Kissed by a Dark Prince was my first novel by Felicity Heaton and what a great read! I was in the mood for something along the lines of a paranormal romance, but wanted something a little different from the usual vampire or werewolf kind. After reading Carmel's review over at Rabid Reads, I decided to give this new series and author a try, and I'm completely happy I did. In this paranormal romance Heaton gives us an elf prince that's quite different from what I'm used to. In a very good and sexy kind of way ...

The story starts of immediately with our hero and heroine meeting up in not the best of circumstances. When Prince Loren, weakened and confused, wakes up hazy from his injuries from his most recent battle with no idea how he ended up in the human realm, and displayed like a specimen in a lab, he takes immediate action. Weak, and in the need for blood, he seeks out the closet option to him - Olivia, the scientist, who is trying to help him.

"I will be fine ... with a little fluids." Pain grated in his deep voice and he swallowed hard.
"I wasn't sure what to give you." Olivia pressed her palm to his forehead. A fever? Was it part of his healing process or was his condition deteriorating? "I wasn't sure what would harm or help you."
He leaned forward and his breath skated over her bare neck. She shivered, a hot rush sweeping through her.
"I know what fluids I need." he whispered low, his voice barely there and teasing, stirring unbidden heat in her veins and quickening her pulse.
"Tell me and I'll get it." -

"Oh, you already have it."

With one single bite, Loren and Olivia, become life mates. Extremely angry and ready to kick this pompous (not really) prince Fae's ass for taking liberties not granted, Olivia's life is turned upside down with an unwanted bonding. Thrust into a Fae war between Prince Loren and his rogue brother, as well as other dangerous deceptions and devious baddies, Olivia must decide whom to trust and if she should try to break the bond between her and Loren. Bonded with a human and in the midst of war, Loren believes this is all a mistake, but all the signs of his eternal mate says otherwise.

What is so refreshing about Kissed by a Dark Prince is the fact that, despite being bonded as eternal mates right away,  Felicity Heaton creates yummy, sexual tension between these two and a slow buildup of trust. Although bonded, there is no insta-love. Attraction definitely. Yes, there's a completely off the chart, sexy dream our prince has about Olivia soon after they are bonded, but from there, it's all slow burn with plenty of tension building up between Loren and Olivia. Our hero and heroine will need to learn how trust in each other and their feelings, fight off the bad guys, and face plot twist before they can try for their HEA.

Another aspect I liked in Kissed by a Dark Prince was the unique mythology behind the Fae. Vampires, Demons and other creatures were all interwoven into the plot as well as the rogue prince that Loren battles. There's a cast of great secondary characters that I enjoyed just as much as Loren and Olivia. Sable is a real kick-ass best friend, one that has Olivia's back. Then, there's Bleu a Fae warrior and Thorne the Demon King to the Third Realm, and Val the rogue prince and brother to Loren all adding to the mix.

Kissed by a Dark Prince is a great start to the Eternal Mates series. A romance with tons of chemistry and tension between two unique characters, a well-thought out plot that's filled with action making this one great read.  A great choice for fans of paranormal romance!

My Rating: 4.5 stars! I really like it!
