Summary:
When Jenny O'Keirna gets a chance to slip her older brother, the new king of Hansarda's, leash, she jumps at it, even if it means playing babysitter to a too-smart-for-his-own-good inventor. She's not expecting the attraction that sparks between them—or that Sanctify is just as desperate to take him for their own.

Never in Mac Flannery's wildest dreams did he imagine Jenny would be the one sent for him. He sees beyond the mad grin the sexy princess of Hansarda presents to the world, and that combination of vulnerability and wicked humor is a siren call he can't resist.

But Sanctify is always three steps ahead of them. On the run—and unable to keep their hands off each other—Jenny and Mac devise an insane plan: kidnap the leader of Sanctify, and stop this war once and for all. Unfortunately, they've just played right into his hands…

Review

Queen of Wands is the second installment of the Sanctify series, and takes off immediately where Katee Robert's first novel Queen of Swords ended, and tosses the reader out into space for some action packed sci-fi adventure and heated romance.

Jenny O'Keirna has been itching to get off-planet and get back in the captain's chair of her ship. When she gets the chance to help her older brother Boone out, now the new King of Hansarda and a new father as well, she jumps at the chance. She's more than ready to escape once more with her ship Psyche and get some good old fashioned kick-ass time in space. Her mission: retrieve the nerdy inventor Mac Flannery before their enemy Sanctify can capture him. With connections to both Azure Enterprises and Hansarda, Mac's a vital player with valuable tech genius skills that the enemy won't stop until they've captured him. The only problem is when Jenny arrives on the scene for her simple pick-up, Sanctify is already there and waiting to trap her as well. Battles, blasters and space-jumps ensue.

I had a lot of fun reading Queen of Wands. As the cover promises, this book is filled with sci fi action, an kick-ass heroine and an adorkable, sexy hero. I picked this book up from Entangled thinking I was getting Queen of Swords, the first installment of the series. Ooops. Nope. My mistake. I was worried at first that I would have serious trouble following the story since it's the second book, but I had no problems. You can read this as a stand alone, but I'm totally captivated by Boone and Ophelia and will definitely go back and read their story!

Jenny is a fun, mouthy, and kick-ass heroine that I immediately took a liking to. From the moment she swept across the pages, I loved her cocky attitude, yet it becomes clear that she carries a vulnerable side as well. She puts these emotional barriers up behind a mask of devil-may-care attitude and saucy manner. Mac finds her to be a tempting puzzle, captivated by her many facets and sees beyond her facade. One that he wants to uncover.

Mac is this wonderful blend of adorableness and genius. A total tech master. I was worried that I wouldn't swoon for him like I do the alpha male characters I usually read, but smexy is good my friends. He's suffered some tragic losses as well and fights to overcome some of his fears. I found his vulnerability an refreshing change. Jenny finds Mac completely irresistible, despite their differences, and wonders how she's going to stay away from her 'charge' during their long escape trip.

From deep space and hostile aliens to pleasure planets and deadly creature, Queen of Wands takes readers on an action packed action adventure with a fun touch of science fiction and a yummy dose of romance. This is an easy and fast read. There's not a ton of world-building to worry about, and the secondary characters added a fun touch. Triplet guys are member of Jenny's crew aboard the Psyche and twin sex vids (futuristic porn stars) are her best buddies on the pleasure planet they escape to. So, things get interesting. Escaping from the enemy holds twist, surprises, danger and romance. Much more than Jenny bargained for.

My Rating: 3.5 Stars. I liked it!

About the Author:

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
